When not afraid to innovate the result appears!

This was the result of the project we participated in, as a creative studio in the development of the product “Tectoy’s Chicken Pintadinha Tablet”. The Number 1 in the Christmas 2013 sales and 2013 Innovation Award by Bromeliad.

This project was the beginning of the partnership between Estudio n’Ovo and Tectoy, now also doing product development. We received the briefing, with 3 months to develop a product.

Tablet Galinha Pintadinha

Each new project is a new n ‘Egg challenge for us at Estudio n’Ovo. In this case, we not only had to design the case for the tablet (case with the character’s characteristics), but we also had to fulfill the requirement that it should work in two directions of use: vertical and horizontal, with the ability to rotate just the tablet screen. Also, we could not characterize the character in either position.
With these details in hand, our starting point was to develop the product with a stand so that the tablet could stand on a flat surface and side handles to hold the product. Thus, we explored the wings of the chicken as handles and legs and feet as a base of support not to misread the character.

Challenges

One of the problems to be solved in the project was the detail of the wings, which were disproportionate when the screen was upright. After several studies, we changed the support body by setting the best tablet X body ratio. The adopted solution allowed the rotation of the screen without decharacterizing the character.
However, this was not the only challenge: it was necessary to allow the user to use the tablet with or without the protective cover, just by removing the tablet from the protective cover. To meet this requirement, a locking system was created so that the tablet could be removed from the chicken body.

With the product created, we were facing the packaging design and, with it, another challenge: how to differentiate a licensed product, for this age group that, at the same time, is an electronic and has the playful part of a licensing character. By now we had the prototype in hand; So we used product photos to create a clean, fun package that translated both technology and entertainment.

With the project completed, product and packaging, we developed a POS material that would help publicize the launch in stores.
Due to the great launch success for Children’s Day sales, the product won the Licensor Innovation Award and, by Christmas 2013, became the # 1 selling tablet in this category.

Packaging Galinha Pintadinha

The development of a project that brought to Estudio n’Ovo a great satisfaction for the work done and very positive sales results for the client.

That is why we say that investing is different from spending; When you work without the fear of innovating, the result is positive for both sides. Naturally resonates with what matters most to companies: sales results!
